Under the project name SURESON, Arizona’s own Tyler Matock returns with a brilliant new song, “Can’t Complain,” available now on all major streaming platforms. Drawing inspiration from the golden era of harmony-driven rock, the song channels the lush, jangly sounds of The Byrds, the tight harmonies of the Everly Brothers, and the effortless cool of Tom Petty.
Produced by Rob Kroehler, “Can’t Complain” is a heartfelt, electric pop song that combines Matock’s heartfelt songwriting with shimmering guitars, tight grooves, and joyful, haunting hooks. “Can’t Complain” is backed by a cast of collaborators, creating a sound that’s both nostalgic and fresh, with psychedelic pedal steel accents adding dreamy, otherworldly touches to the arrangement.
“Can’t Complain” is personal to me: it doesn’t address any of the outside world’s issues, which I also care deeply about,” says Matock. “But it was written in a moment of joy. I decided to lean into that joy while poking fun at the brooding, self-destructive songwriter I often think I have to be to write a good song.”
With its infectious energy and timeless feel, “Can’t Complain” is poised to resonate with fans of classic power pop, while offering something new for a modern audience. Sureson’s sound is rooted in storytelling and classic influences, but with an electric twist that’s distinctly her own.
